Leeds United eyeing Silva Mexes swoop

Leeds United vs Norwich City: Preview and Prediction ahead of the second leg of their playoff spot semifinal at Elland Road..

Leeds United are keen on acquiring the services of 16-year-old Manchester United attacking sensation Silva Mexes.

Silva Mexes’s future has become an interesting talking point because of his contract situation at Manchester United. The teenage prospect is considering his options, and he could end up leaving the Red Devils in the near future.

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds United are keeping tabs on his situation. The West Yorkshire outfit are plotting a raid on their rivals, as they look to get their hands on Mexes. They have already made contact regarding a move to bring the Thailand youth international to the club.

Silva Mexes was a part of the Ipswich Town youth setup before he made the move to Manchester United in the summer of 2024. He is making quite a name for himself with his impressive performances for Manchester United’s youth teams.

Following his impressive rise, the Red Devils have been looking to secure his long-term future. However, the son of former Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest forward Rob Earnshaw has failed to agree on scholarship terms, leading to a pro deal. As a result, he is now considering his options and could leave Manchester United just two years after joining them.

Leeds United ready to raid Manchester United for Mexes

Leeds United are well aware of his massive potential and have already registered interest in the 16-year-old winger. They are keen on bringing Silva Mexes to Elland Road to bolster their academy ranks. They believe he could go up the ranks in no time and become a key figure in their first team.

If Mexes does not end up joining the Yorkshire-based outfit, he certainly won’t be the first to make the switch to Leeds United from Manchester United. Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher made the move in February, and he could be accompanied by his former teammate.

With Mexes failing to agree on scholarship terms, which would have led to him signing a professional contract, a host of top clubs have been put on alert. As a result, Leeds United certainly won’t find it that easy to secure his services. However, the Whites are optimistic that they can beat the competition, having previously signed academy players from Manchester United.
