Tottenham and Barcelona are ready to battle it out for the signature of Borussia Dortmund attacking mainstay Serhou Guirassy.
Serhou Guirassy’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed. The biggest clubs in Europe have taken note of the 29-year-old, and there could be a bidding war for his signature this summer. While Borussia Dortmund remain reluctant to sell, European giants could break the bank to lure him.
According to a report from Fussballdaten, Tottenham and Barcelona are two of the biggest contenders to sign him, and they could be involved in an intense transfer battle. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old might have to make the biggest decision of his career this summer.
Following his impressive performances for VfB Stuttgart, Guirassy made the move to Dortmund in the summer of 2024, and he hasn’t looked back since. In his debut campaign, he was involved in a total of 50 games and ended up contributing towards 47 goals (38 goals, 9 assists).
He has carried that form into the new season and has 17 goals and six assists in his 38 outings. The Guinea striker’s consistent performances have placed him on the radar of Tottenham and Barcelona.
While Dortmund are aware of the increasing interest in the 30-year-old, they have no intentions of negotiating his departure. The German giants consider him untouchable, as they do not want to destroy the backbone of the team.
However, the player’s desire and the club’s need to raise funds to revamp their squad could change their stance. A massive financial offer could force them to rethink. With his contract running until 2028, Dortmund will certainly have the upper hand in negotiations.
Guirassy could be on the move this summer
While he has a €50 million release clause, it only applies to top clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester City or Liverpool. Other interested clubs like Tottenham and Barcelona might have to pay around €75-80 million for the 30-year-old.
The North London club have had scouts in the stands in Dortmund’s last five games to closely monitor the African striker. They have already contacted his agent, which suggests their interest is quite concrete.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are looking at him as an option to bolster their attack. While he is not considered a Robert Lewandowski replacement, he can certainly compete for a place in the starting XI. However, Dortmund’s demands could make things difficult for the Spanish club.
