Sunderland are reportedly prepared to pay €15 million to sign Real Madrid’s young midfield talent Thiago Pitarch in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Sunderland are prepared to table a €15 million bid for Real Madrid’s teenage midfield prospect Thiago Pitarch. The Black Cats view the teenager as an exceptional talent for the present and future, as they are hoping the figure reflects the right value to Real Madrid should they open the doors to a sale.
Thiago Pitarch was a relative unknown to the outer world until last week, when the teenage midfielder starred in Real Madrid’s midfield in the win over Manchester City. Despite a raft of injuries affecting the Spanish giants heading into that game, it was a big surprise to see the 18-year-old midfielder in the starting lineup.
For interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa, it was a bold move and possibly a big gamble to hand the keys to the midfield to a player who had played only four or five times for the first team. However, that performance in a huge UEFA Champions League game against Manchester City has stirred the market to an extent, with many teams now looking closely at the player.
Sunderland are the ones who are showing serious intent in Thiago Pitarch, with the Premier League newcomers ready to table a €15 million offer to test the waters. Real Madrid may not be averse to the idea of selling this high-profile midfield talent, but only time will tell whether the offer in itself is enough.
Real Madrid have recently added numerous clauses to the contracts of young players that they sell. For instance, the likes of Chema Andres, Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon all have modest buyback clauses and hefty sell-on terms, which might be a way forward for Pitarch if they were to agree a sale to a club like Sunderland.
Will Real Madrid sell Thiago Pitarch?
Sunderland could be a touch hopeful should they table the €15 million offer for the 18-year-old Real Madrid breakout star. However, there are chances that the Spanish giants will look to keep him, especially given how important his rise has been of late.
If a sale were to materialise for the price mentioned in the report, it would most probably be on Real Madrid’s terms. So, there could be some hefty clauses favouring the Spanish side in the contract, which would hand Florentino Perez control of the player’s future.
