Fiorentina are unlikely to make Leeds United forward Jack Harrison’s loan move permanent following a dip in form.
According to a report from FiorentinaUno, Jack Harrison could be heading back to Leeds United after the end of the season, as Fiorentina are increasingly unlikely to sign him on a permanent basis. It is a massive blow for the Yorkshire-based outfit, as they were hoping the Italian outfit would trigger the buy option in his loan deal.
Following his return from Everton, Harrison struggled to get enough game time at Leeds during the first half of the season. Since he no longer had a prominent role at the club, Daniel Farke’s team were keen on getting him off their books.
They eventually ended up sending him out on loan to Fiorentina for the rest of the season. While a loan move didn’t solve the entire problem, it didn’t help them free up part of the player’s wages. The loan move also includes a buy option worth around £6 million, and Leeds are hoping that the deal becomes permanent.
Harrison’s move to Fiorentina won’t be made permanent
Even Harrison arrived at the Italian club with hopes of impressing them and securing a permanent deal. While he was off to a flying start, the 29-year-old winger hasn’t been consistent enough. He has been involved in eight games so far and has only managed a single assist.
Things certainly don’t look promising, and the upcoming fixtures will have a big say on his future. The game against Parma becomes crucial for Harrison. With Moise Kean doubtful and Manor Solomon suffering from a physical problem, the club hopes the Leeds winger steps up and delivers. Helping them survive the drop could go a long way in making the move permanent.
However, as things stand, the 29-year-old will be returning to Leeds in the summer, where he would still have two years left on his deal. But since he is no longer an important part of their plans, the Premier League outfit will have to look for a new destination for the English winger.
