Juventus, Newcastle United, Barcelona and Tottenham are all keen on signing Bournemouth defensive mainstay Marcos Senesi.
Marcos Senesi’s future has become a massive talking point ahead of the summer transfer window. With the Argentine centre-back all set to be available for free in a few months, some of the biggest clubs in Europe are gearing up for an intense transfer battle.
According to a report from ASRomalive, Juventus are keen on signing the 28-year-old, as they seek more depth and quality at the back. Meanwhile, another report from The Sun suggests they will face stiff competition from Newcastle, Tottenham and Barcelona.
After making a name for himself at Feyenoord, Senesi joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2022, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. While he remains an integral part of the Cherries’ first-team setup, he is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
European giants are after Senesi
His contract runs out in the summer. While Bournemouth would have loved to secure his long-term future with a new deal, the 28-year-old has no intentions of signing an extension. With a defender of his quality set to be available for free, there is no shortage of takers.
The Old Lady are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. Luciano Spalletti feels the need to add more quality to his backline and considers Senesi a reliable option for his team. Meanwhile, Newcastle are also keeping a close eye on him, as Eddie Howe looks to freshen things up at the back.
With Dan Burn and Fabian Schar in the final phase of their career, the 28-year-old could be a great short-term fix for them. However, Newcastle and Juventus are not the only clubs that are after him; they will have to battle Barcelona and Tottenham.
Barcelona and Tottenham are also in the mix
With Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven’s future up in the air, Spurs see him as a great option to bolster their defence. The North London club are always on the lookout for opportunities in the market, and a player of his quality for free certainly excites them.
Meanwhile, with Barcelona struggling financially, Senesi is a great cost-effective option for them. They haven’t coped well with Inigo Martinez’s departure, and with Ronald Araujo struggling to get back to his best, the Bournemouth defender could certainly help their cause.
