Liverpool scouted Yan Diomande recently, with the Premier League champions seen as the ‘most interested’ club in the Ivorian winger.
According to Bild via Sport Witness, Liverpool scouts returned with glowing reports after observing key attacking target Yan Diomande. The Merseysiders had observers present to watch the Ivorian winger in action for RB Leipzig against Wolfsburg, and they are seen as the ‘most interested’ of clubs, as others are also keen.
Liverpool continue to plan for the summer window, with the club eager to bring in new attackers in the wide areas. The right wing is of particular importance to the Merseysiders, as the future of Mohamed Salah remains a subject of constant speculation.
Liverpool could cash in on Salah despite his contract only ending in 2025, and Saudi Arabia could be a viable destination for the Egyptian. With a big transfer fee expected out of the operation, Liverpool could invest a large chunk in a certain Yan Diomande.
Diomande, who arrived at RB Leipzig in the summer from Leganes, has been an instant hit for the Bundesliga outfit. His nine goals and six assists across all competitions have attracted plenty of suitors in the market, including a few bigwigs from the Premier League.
Arsenal and Manchester United are part of the race, with both Premier League giants in the market for a young and promising attacker. RB Leipzig are not expected to sell him on the cheap, with reports reiterating their stance of securing at least €100 million in the market. Arsenal and Manchester United are a few of the teams capable of paying as much, with the winger certainly showing he is worth the hype.
Liverpool leading the Yan Diomande race?
Liverpool are considered the front-runners in the race, with club scouts present during Leipzig’s recent Bundesliga game against Wolfsburg to watch the winger in action. The €100 million-rated sensation is seen as one of the ideal replacements for Salah, and Liverpool observers would have been satisfied with their viewing as Diomande scored a goal in the game.
Liverpool are also in a strong position to invest big sums in players they feel could improve the current squad. The Premier League champions are considered the ‘most interested’ among others in the race for the Ivorian winger, and a summer approach could be on the cards.
