Besiktas maintain contact with Altay Bayindir, eyeing summer move

Turkish giants Besiktas remain keen on signing Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir ahead of next season.

Besiktas were looking to reinforce their defence with a new goalkeeper during the recently concluded winter transfer window. Manchester United’s Altay Bayindir was one of the names on their wishlist. However, they failed to strike a deal for the Turkish international.

Despite that, they have not given up on their pursuit of the 27-year-old. According to Fotomac, Besiktas remain in contact to sign the United shot-stopper. The management has not cut off communications with his camp as they look to bring him to the Super Lig next summer.

Altay Bayindir made quite a name for himself while playing for Fenerbahce. On the back of his impressive performances, he secured a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2023. Since moving to Manchester United, he has only been involved in 17 matches, keeping just three clean sheets.

While he was hoping to have a much more important role, the 27-year-old has often found himself warming the bench. As a result, there has been a lot of talk about his future. With less than 18 months left on his deal, the Turkish international also seems keen on making a move away in search of a more prominent role.

Besiktas to return for Bayindir’s signature

Besiktas have emerged as a potential destination for Altay Bayindir. They were keen on bringing him back to the Super Lig during the winter. While they did make moves, their efforts did not yield any positive results. Ultimately, the Turkish outfit ended up signing Devis Vasquez on loan from AS Roma for the rest of the season.

Since Vasquez is a short-term fix, Besiktas will be back in the market for a new goalkeeper in the summer, and Bayindir still remains a top priority for them. They consider the Turk an ideal fit for their project and have remained in touch with his camp ahead of a potential transfer.

Since Bayindir will only have a year left on his deal next summer, the Turkish club certainly have a chance of striking a deal with Manchester United. They are hoping to get it over the line before the start of next season. The 27-year-old Turkish international is frustrated by the lack of minutes, and he can certainly jump on the opportunity.
