Bayern Munich have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United attacking sensation Nick Woltemade.
According to a report from Football Insider, Bayern Munich are keen on signing Nick Woltemade, who could be set for a premature exit from Newcastle United. The Magpies are willing to negotiate his departure, as the German international has failed to live upto expectations.
On the back of his impressive performances for VfB Stuttgart, the Tyneside outfit signed him last summer in a deal worth £69 million. He was brought in alongside Yoane Wissa to help the club cope with the departure of Alexander Isak.
Woltemade made a sensational start to life in his new surroundings, as he bagged five goals in his first six games. However, he has not been able to maintain that form for long. The player only has two league goals since November. He has not bagged a goal in his last 13 matches and often finds himself on the bench, with Wissa being preferred ahead of him.
Given the kind of money Newcastle United forked out to get Nick Woltemade, they were hoping that he could have a significant impact. But things have not gone according to plan, and the Magpies are already considering selling him ahead of next season.
Bayern Munich want Woltemade at cut-price fee
Bayern Munich have emerged as a potential destination for Nick Woltemade. The German giants wanted him last summer as well, but they could not compete with Newcastle United financially. Now they are set to revive their interest in the 23-year-old, who has the potential to be a special player.
The Bundesliga champions are confident about him being an ideal fit for their long-term plans. While the Bavarian giants have set their eyes on him, they would only be willing to go ahead with a move if he is available for a cut-price fee.
The German club’s valuation of the player is around £30-40 million, which is way less than what the Tynside club paid for him last summer. It seems unlikely that they would sell him for around half of their initial investment.
