Aston Villa are ready to rival Tottenham for the signature of Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer window.
According to Team Talk, Morgan Gibbs-White may have a new suitor in the form of Aston Villa ahead of the summer. Unai Emery’s side could be forced to sign a new playmaker if Morgan Rogers departs, as they could rival Tottenham for the signature of the Nottingham Forest star.
Nottingham Forest are not in a good situation with regard to their position in the Premier League table. Heading into the midweek action, only three points separate them from 18th-placed West Ham United, which has caused concerns in the corridors of the club.
Should Forest suffer an untimely relegation at the end of the term, they are also at risk of losing some of their key players, including Morgan Gibbs-White. The England international has been the main creative hub for Sean Dyche’s side, and was instrumental in them getting to the Europa League last season.
However, back in the summer, the club managed to evade the dramatic situation surrounding the playmaker after Tottenham triggered a said release clause. Gibbs-White then proceeded to sign a new deal that effectively ties him down at the City Ground until 2028.
Spurs are ready to rekindle their interest in Gibbs-White, considering they had put everything in place with the player’s camp last summer. The report states, an offer between £65-70 million would prove tempting for Forest to cash in, with Tottenham likely to position themselves in front of the queue when the summer window opens.
Aston Villa to chase Morgan Gibbs-White?
Aston Villa are now in the race for Gibbs-White, as it could be a measure of a potential sale of Morgan Rogers. Chelsea are among the clubs ready to pay big for the Villa playmaker, which could force the club to seek a viable replacement, as they want the £65-70m-rated playmaker from a relegation-threatened club.
Should Villa make it to one of the European competitions, especially the Champions League, they could potentially beat Spurs to the Forest playmaker. Gibbs-White is likely to consider his options in the summer irrespective of relegation, as he will be open to taking up a bigger challenge, which could keep the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham on high alert.
