Andre Onana is reportedly open to playing in Serie A again, where his former side, Inter Milan, remains linked with the Manchester United flop, with others also interested.
According to Caught Offside, Andre Onana could be open to the idea of playing in Serie A once again, with the keeper expected to depart Manchester United in the summer. The current Trabzonspor keeper has links with former side Inter Milan, while AS Roma and Napoli are also being touted as destinations for the Cameroonian.
Andre Onana does not have a future at Manchester United moving forward, with the Cameroonian keeper now seen as a target for several Italian sides. The Red Devils are expected to sell the keeper in the summer, as they no longer need his services between the sticks.
Senne Lammens has established himself as the first choice at Old Trafford, and Onana’s return next summer from his loan spell at Trabzonspor is unlikely to change that situation. Despite some reports of late stating that Onana is keen to resurrect his Manchester United career, the chances of that happening are remote, as a move away is the likely outcome for his immediate future.
Onana’s agents held talks with Inter Milan over a potential return to the club, where he was an impressive performer during his brief stay. Yann Sommer is getting older, and it’s a matter of time before the Nerazzuri look for a long-term replacement, as the Manchester United flop might fit the bill.
The keeper might be a solution for their long-term goalkeeping position, although any move will depend on how much Manchester United demands from suitors. Inter Milan are not flush with cash, but they could look for a compromise for the Manchester United flop next summer.
More Serie A sides showing an interest?
The report also names Roma and Napoli as suitors, as those two Serie A giants could look for a new keeper in the market. For Roma, Mile Svilar could leave next summer, with Onana reportedly being offered to the Roman side, while Napoli might look at new options, given there are doubts over Alx Meret’s future, and they could look for an upgrade on Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan seems like the front runners at the moment, as per the report, but finances will play a huge role in their pursuit of the Manchester United flop. Hence, Roma and Napoli might have a chance in the race, especially if they can offer the Cameroonian a key place.
