Tottenham, Crystal Palace make approach for Joshua Zirkzee move

Tottenham, West Ham United in transfer tussle to sign Mateo Pellegrino.

Tottenham and Crystal Palace are interested in a move for Joshua Zirkzee, with his Manchester United future still unclear.

According to Team Talk, Tottenham and Crystal Palace are showing interest in signing Joshua Zirkzee this month. The London duo are in the market to bolster their attack before the transfer deadline, as they may have approached the Dutchman’s camp over a potential move, as the 24-year-old’s future at Old Trafford is still unclear.

Joshua Zirkzee’s future is still unclear heading into the final few days of the January transfer window. With a lack of game time under previous manager Ruben Amorim, the Dutchman has missed the majority of Michael Carrick’s reign with a minor injury, but he could soon return to the squad and be under consideration for minutes.

It remains to be seen how Carrick fits him into the system, as he has used Bryan Mbeumo in the No.9 role over Benjamin Sesko with Matheus Cunha playing as the Cameroonian’s backup. Zirkzee is eager to play regular minutes to be under consideration for the Netherlands’ World Cup campaign in the summer, as his camp might be hopeful of a late departure from Old Trafford.

Manchester United are not keen to weaken their squad by selling an attacking asset in this window, despite widespread interest from Serie A, where AS Roma are yet to give up on their chase. There are others in the mix, with Juventus also considering a move as they view the £36.5 million Manchester United signing as an alternative to Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta’s future is also a subject that could be linked with Zirkzee’s, as Crystal Palace views the Dutchman as a replacement for the Frenchman. Tottenham are also linked with Mateta, but now, the north Londoners are in the mix for Zirkzee too, with the London duo showing big interest in signing the Dutchman.

Joshua Zirkzee to leave Manchester United?

Tottenham are eager to figure out if a move for Zirkzee is possible, while Palace are preparing themselves should Mateta leave in the final days of the window. Nottingham Forest are interested in the French striker, and there’s a big possibility they could sign the striker, which would pique Palace’s interest in Zirkzee.

Palace might be the club in need of a starting forward compared to Tottenham, who currently have three or four players who could play in the No.9 role. While Manchester United are currently sticking by their stance on Zirkzee, things could soften in the final days of the window if either of those clubs comes up with an offer that suits the Red Devils.
