Atletico Madrid are set to demand at least £80 million to part ways with Arsenal target Julian Alvarez next summer.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal may have to pay £80 million at the very least if they wish to sign Julian Alvarez. Atletico Madrid are primed to recoup most of the money they paid for the 25-year-old Argentine international two summers ago, with the Gunners primed to chase the Argentine international.
Arsenal had a tremendous summer window last time out, signing eight new players to add quality to their already impressive squad. The Gunners ensured they signed a prolific striker in Viktor Gyokeres, while strengthening all other departments on the pitch, to give Mikel Arteta a near-complete squad at his disposal.
While the current squad looks extremely strong, Arteta is keen to make further adjustments. The Arsenal feels the attacking department could be further strengthened, and the club could potentially seek a new left winger and a striker if one of their current options departs.
Currently, Arsenal boast summer arrival Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as their striker options. Jesus seems more likely to depart as he enters the final year of his deal in the summer, which could make space for a new striker.
Julian Alvarez is the player being mentioned as someone of acute interest for Arsenal, with the club keeping close tabs on his situation alongside other rivals. The Argentine international has been a goalscoring source for Atletico Madrid since his arrival in the summer of 2024, and the Spanish club are only about to sell him if their asking price is met.
Can Arsenal sign Julian Alvarez?
Arsenal will be making a huge statement of intent if they follow through on their interest in Julian Alvarez. Atletico Madrid are reportedly demanding at least £80 million for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, which could see them recoup a massive amount considering the investment they made to sign the Argentine.
Given Alvarez’s age and the long-term possibilities he brings, Arsenal may not shy away from paying the £80 million or more required to get the 25-year-old attacker. At the moment, he could be a top signing for the Gunners, and much like some of their other high-profile signings in the past, the club may have begun groundwork to get the Argentine to the Emirates next summer.
