Manchester United outcast Tyrell Malacia is all set to hold crunch talks with Michael Carrick over his future at the club.
Tyrell Malacia was surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim, and he only made one substitute appearance in the entire first half of the season. While Amorim is no longer at the club and Michael Carrick has taken over as the caretaker manager until the end of the season, the Dutch full-back’s future is still up in the air.
According to a report from The Sun, Malacia is all set to hold crunch talks with the newly appointed boss regarding his future at the club. There remains a possibility of him leaving the club before the winter transfer window shuts.
Malacia came up the ranks at Feyenoord and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. The Red Devils invested €15 million to add him to their squad in the summer of 2022. While he had a promising debut campaign, a knee injury kept him on the sidelines for the 2023/24 season, and he has struggled to establish himself at United post that.
He spent the second half of last season at PSV, where he could only make 12 appearances and didn’t really have the desired impact. While he has been with the United first-team this season, he has been on the pitch for just two minutes.
Malacia to leave United this month?
Malacia is frustrated by the lack of minutes and seems ready to part ways with the club if things don’t change. He has entered the final six months of his deal at Old Trafford and is set to hold talks with newly appointed boss Carrick before making a final decision on his future.
It looks unlikely that he will have an opportunity to revive his United career as they are ready to switch back to a four-man defence, further limiting his chances of making an appearance, as Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw are ahead of him in the pecking order, and Diego Leon is also knocking on the doors of the first team.
As a result, his time at Old Trafford might actually end this month. However, finding a new club won’t be that straightforward, as he hasn’t played much football over the last few seasons.
