Aston Villa are in discussions with Besiktas over an exchange deal involving Tammy Abraham and summer arrival Evan Guessand.
According to Firat Gunayer, Aston Villa are in discussions with Besiktas over an exchange deal involving Tammy Abraham and Evan Guessand. The latter was a summer arrival at Villa Park, but the club are ready to dispense with the attacker in favour of bringing the former striker back as a deal could be agreed upon.
Aston Villa continued to baffle many of their supporters and the transfer experts with the way they are going about in the transfer market. The club are yet to balance their books in a way that allows them to operate smoothly in the market without the need to make enforced adjustments to their squad.
While things looked calm at the start of the January window, Villa have surprised a few by agreeing a deal with AS Roma for attacker Donyel Malen, with a loan deal with a buy obligation in place between the parties. Now, they are reportedly planning on offloading another one of their attackers in the summer arrival of Evan Guessand, who joined in a €35 million deal from OGC Nice.
Guessand has featured in 19 games across all competitions, but his lack of output and influence makes him a disposable asset. As per Turkish journalist Firat Gunayer, Aston Villa are discussing an exchange deal with Besiktas involving Giuessand and Tammy Abraham, with the club interested in the latter since the last few days.
The journalist claimed that should Abraham agrees on salary terms with Aston Villa, then Guessand could go the other way. Aston Villa are ready to send the summer arrival on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal, as well as pay a fee on top of it. It remains to be seen whether the discussions come to fruition, and given the way this deal has been reported, Guessand might agree to move on.
Why are Aston Villa signing Tammy Abraham?
Beyond the suggestions that Aston Villa are juggling in the market to balance their finances, they are potentially bringing in Abraham as a replacement for Malen. The latter has played as a striker this season along with Ollie Watkins, and it could be a move to strengthen their attacking setup, given that Abraham has had a good season so far with 15 goals and assists for Besiktas.
AS Roma are also in the picture, given they still own Abraham as a player, but Besiktas’ loan agreement has a buy obligation as per reports, which does give the Turkish side the power in negotiations. For now, the move for the 15 G/A striker this month.
