Arsenal are inching closer to a new contract with Jurrien Timber, with his future extremely important for the club in the long run.
According to Team Talk, Arsenal are getting closer to agreeing a new deal with Jurrien Timber. Keeping the Dutchman was an imperative task for the club, as securing one of the best in his role is a step in the right direction for the Gunners.
Jurrien Timber arrived for £38 million in the summer of 2023 and was viewed as a strategic signing by Mikel Arteta. He missed the subsequent season after rupturing his ACL in the very first game of the season, but has proved to be a big hit since returning for the 2024-25 season.
With Ben White in and out owing to fitness issues, Timber has assumed the role of the No.1 choice in that right-back role under Arteta. Keeping him has been one of tje priorities for Arsenal ahead of the next steps to keep the core parts of this squad intact.
Timber is currently a massive part of Arteta’s plans, providing tactical solutions to the team. His defensive nous has brought him into conversations of being the best right-back in the league, and his performances have deserved it.
Timber also brings a lot to the attacking third, contributing to three goals and four assists so far in the campaign. Arsenal are in direct contact with his camp over a new deal, and they are inching closer to an agreement with the defender.
Arsenal to keep their top stars
Arsenal are at an interesting stage of their squad building under Arteta, as so far the club have managed to keep all of their key stars at the club. With Timber closing in on an agreement, they have already agreed fresh terms with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, as well as teenage duo Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
Bukayo Saka is their next priority, with the winger also close to agreeing fresh terms to secure his future here for the long term. The Gunners are currently leading the Premier League title race with a seven-point advantage, and top of their Champions League group. Keeping hold of their players is a key factor of their success, especially those like Timber.
