Manchester United unlikely to land James Garner in January, Everton confident of renewal

Manchester United may not land James Garner in January as Everton remain confident of agreeing a new deal with the midfielder.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United’s chances of landing James Garner in January seem to be very low as Everton are unlikely to sanction a sale. The Toffees are instead confident of agreeing on a new contract with the midfielder, although the situation is a bit tricky with the renewal.

James Garner has proven his worth as a top midfielder in the Premier League, which has seen him rise within the ranks at Everton. Currently, he is one of the most important players at the club under David Moyes, and a sure-shot starter this term, but there is speculation surrounding his future at Merseyside.

Garner’s contract is up in the summer, but Everton hold the option of extending his deal by another season. Hence, they are ready to go all out to find an agreement on a new deal, with some clubs circling around in the hope of an opportunity to sound out a move elsewhere.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are sniffing around, but currently, no progress is being made with regards to a new contract at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium. Everton are aware of the risk of letting James Garner get to the end of the season without a new deal, but they are pushing hard for a renewal.

Manchester United are also interested in Garner, with the player leaving Old Trafford back in 2022 to join Everton in a £15 million deal. The Red Devils have contemplated bringing the Englishman back to the club, but there are many challenges ahead, especially in January.

Everton to keep James Garner?

Manchester United may put together a tempting prospect to bring Garner back to the club, although Everton are set to take a firm stance on the 24-year-old midfielder’s immediate future. The £15 million Everton utility man is unlikely to leave the Hills-Dickinson Stadium midway through the season, with the Toffees confident of agreeing on fresh terms.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are keeping their eyes open in the market for opportunities, with a midfielder likely to be a priority for the team in January. A few names are being mentioned, although James Garner is unlikely to be a part of it, owing to the difficulty with Everton in letting him leave.
