According to Africa Foot, Lassine Sinayoko is emerging as a big target for Manchester United, with the striker entering the final six months of his deal with Auxerre. The Red Devils are engaged in talks over a pre-contract agreement with the Malian striker to ensure he arrives on a free transfer next summer.
Lassine Sinayoko may not be a household name when it comes to links with top Premier League clubs, although the Malian striker could be bound for England soon. Currently at the AFCON representing Mali, the AJ Auxerre star could be a Manchester United player next season.
Sinayoko is about to enter the final six months of his deal with Auxerre. Should Manchester United succeed in talks with his camp, he may not sign an extension. The report states, the Red Devils are in talks with his camp over a free transfer next summer, and are eager to agree a pre-contract agreement with the 26-year-old striker.
The Auxerre star is not the most prolific striker around Europe, with his haul of six goals and two assists this season only considered modest. However, the prospect of signing a striker of his profile on a free transfer, which could see him play a backup role of sorts in the setup from next season onwards.
Whether there is any truth in the report remains to be seen, as no top Premier League club were linked by credible outlets recently or before. With the striker currently at AFCON, there is a possibility of talks with his camp, but it remains to be seen whether any move materialises in the future, particularly a pre-contract agreement.
Do Manchester United need a new striker?
Manchester United may see the need for a new striker moving forward, as the club are planning to add new attackers in the future. The future of Joshua Zirkzee remains in doubt, although the Dutchman is expected to stay beyond the January transfer window, but could leave next summer if his situation at the club does not change.
Moreover, they will be a bit short in the position, particularly if Manchester United make it to one of the European competitions next season. Hence, there will be changes to the frontline, although Benjamin Sesko is widely seen as the long-term option to lead the line for the club.
