Arsenal keen on Aleksandar Stankovic

Roberto Firmino could become surprise target for Arsenal soon.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Club Brugge’s midfield sensation Aleksandar Stankovic.

According to a report from L’Interista, Aleksandar Stankovic’s sensational rise at Club Brugge has caught the attention of Arsenal, who are looking to add more quality and youth to their midfield. The Gunners seem quite keen on signing the Serbian international.

Stankovic came up the ranks at Inter Milan. He got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2024 and spent the last season on loan at FC Luzern. While he had quite an impressive spell at the Swiss club, Inter were not certain they would be able to hand him regular minutes following his return.

As a result, they ended up cashing in on the 20-year-old. Since joining Club Brugge, he has been involved in 29 matches across competitions and has contributed towards four goals. He has been one of their standout performers in the league and the Champions League.

The Serbian midfielder’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Arsenal have taken note, and they seem quite keen on signing the youngster, who prefers playing in the number six role but is equally effective in a number eight role.

Arsenal want to sign Stankovic

Despite having added Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard to their ranks last summer, the Gunners still seek more quality in the centre of the park. They believe Stankovic could be a great option for the long run. More importantly, he will add depth and competition for a place in the starting XI.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a massive admirer, and they are ready to try to lure him. But they will struggle to secure his services as Inter Milan still have a lot of control over his future. The Italian giants did sanction his departure last summer, but they do have a buy-back option for 2026 and 2027.

The buy-back clause for 2026 stands at €23 million, and they seem set to trigger that clause. The Gunners will have to negotiate with the Italian giants if they want to get their hands on the youngster.
