Tottenham are keeping tabs on Leon Goretzka’s situation at Bayern Munich as they might be interested in signing the German international.
According to Fichajes, Leon Goretzka is emerging as a target for Tottenham as the German’s time at Bayern Munich could be drawing to a close. The north Londoners could potentially allow the 30-year-old long-serving star to experience Premier League football, as well as helping them grow in the short to medium term.
Players like Leon Goretzka seem to have lost a spark in the game, especially with the level of competition the German has at Bayern Munich. Despite the report claiming a rift between the 30-year-old long-serving star and the club or the coaching staff, there’s a possibility the midfielder might depart at the end of the season.
Much like how he did at Schalke when he was about to join Bayern Munich, Goretzka could leave on a free transfer in the summer when his deal at the club expires. A new challenge may be on the cards, as the report states he’s unhappy with his involvement under Vincent Kompany.
Despite the claims that he’s playing less, Goretzka has started 11 of the 14 league games for Bayern Munich this season, which does not scream a ‘lack of minutes’ by any means. However, there’s no news on a potential contract renewal, as the club considers Aleksandar Pavlovic and Joshua Kimmich as the main men in central midfield moving forward.
Hence, some teams are already looking at the possibility of signing the 30-year-old long-serving star as a short-term to mid-term option, with Tottenham also interested. Spurs are in the market for a new midfielder, having seen numerous links to different players. Of those, RC Lens star Mamadou Sangare is a target, while there are others like Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher as well as Sunderland’s Noah Sadiki.
Could Tottenham land Leon Goretzka?
Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi is also a target, but the possibility of signing Goretzka in January could be looked into closely. Tottenham may not be the best destination for the 30-year-old long-serving star at Bayern Munich, although at the moment, they are the only ones angling for a move.
Spurs could offer Goretzka the chance to launch his career in the Premier League, something he has never experienced before in his career. Secondly, Tottenham have a healthy working relationship with Bayern Munich owing to recent deals for Mathys Tel, Harry Kane and most recently Joao Palhinha, which does allow both teams to open dialogue with ease should a January move for Goretzka materialise in some way.
