Inter Milan are interested in acquiring the services of Guglielmo Vicario as they look to replace Yann Sommer.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan have their eyes set on Guglielmo Vicario. The Italian giants are plotting a raid on Tottenham for the 29-year-old, who is reportedly keen on securing a return to the Serie A.
After making a name for himself at Empoli, Vicario joined Tottenham in the summer of 2023. While his command of the penalty area has often been questioned, the Italian international has otherwise performed reliably.
However, things haven’t been that great for him of late. The North London club have struggled to get the desired results this season, and Vicario hasn’t been able to bail them out. The Tottenham goalkeeper was booed harshly by the fans after a serious blunder against Fulham on Saturday.
While he took the blame, the manager defended him. However, it seems his time in North London is slowly coming to an end. The 29-year-old is keen on a return to his homeland, and multiple top clubs are plotting a raid on Tottenham.
Vicario to replace Sommer at Inter Milan
Inter Milan have emerged as a potential destination for the goalkeeper as they look to prepare for life without Yann Sommer. Age is slowly catching up to the 36-year-old, and with Josep Martinez struggling to be an able cover, the Serie A outfit are set to enter the market for a new shot-stopper.
Sommer is set to leave the club at the end of the season, and they want someone who can take his place in the team. They have their eyes set on Vicario, who has expressed his desire to return to the Italian top flight. His agents have reopened communication channels with the Serie A club.
With his contract at Tottenham running until 2028, and him earning £2.5 million per season, Inter will surely struggle to get a deal over the line. If they decide to go ahead with it, the Serie A giants will have to invest around £30 million to get him out of North London.
