West Ham United front-runners to sign Promise David amid Leeds United battle

West Ham United are the front-runners in the race to sign Promise David, with Leeds United also interested in the Union Saint-Gilloise striker.

According to TEAMtalk, Promise David has continued to attract big attention from the Premier League, with West Ham United currently leading Leeds United in the race. Union Saint-Gilloise are set to demand at least €20 million for their front man, who could be tempted by a move to England.

Premier League strugglers West Ham United and Leeds United are in the market for a new striker to boost their hopes of survival. The January window could not come much sooner for those teams to bolster their goalscoring options, as they have landed on a common target in Union Saint-Gilloise forward Promise David.

The Canadian international was instrumental in ending Union Saint-Gilloise’s 90-year wait for the Belgian league title, as David scored 24 times in 41 appearances for the team. He has since notched nine strikes this season, including the winner over Galatasaray in the Champions League this week.

Now, the Canadian international could be tempted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, as West Ham United are showing an interest. Leeds United are also keen on the striker, as Daniel Farke wants to solve his goalscoring issues. The two teams are also linked with Irish hero Troy Parrott, and now they are keeping tabs on David as an option.

Union Saint-Gilloise are set to demand at least €20 million for their striker, and there is confidence that either of those English sides could afford the price point. West Ham are currently leading the race, and could provide the €20 million-rated striker with an opportunity to make the switch to the Premier League.

West Ham leading the race

West Ham could use the funds generated from sales to aid a move for Promise David, as they are prepared to offload Niclas Fullkrug in January. The Hammers have seen links to many other names, such as Endrick, in recent times, but they do not stand a chance with the Real Madrid star.

Speaking of Real Madrid, Leeds United face frustration in their efforts for Gonzalo Garcia, as both the Whites and the Hammers are forced to look elsewhere. Hence, in the race to sign David, they feel there is a chance to sign one of the strikers who is showing promising signs on the goalscoring front, but it is West Ham who seem like the front-runners at this current moment.
