West Ham United make enquiry for Cajetan Lenz

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Besiktas: Group K - UEFA Europa League

Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham United have enquired about the availability of VfL Bochum midfield sensation Cajetan Lenz.

Having had a poor start to the season, West Ham United are looking at ways to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window. Nuno Espirito Santo wants more quality in midfield, and according to Sky Sports, the Hammers are interested in acquiring the services of Cajetan Lenz.

The London club have been keeping tabs on his performances in recent weeks, and they have already enquired about him, as they look to beat the competition to his signature.

Lenz joined Bochum’s youth setup back in 2014. He has come up the ranks at some pace and has been a part of their first team since the start of 2025. While he didn’t get any first-team opportunities in the second half of last season, the 19-year-old has been a regular feature in their XI this season.

The defensive midfielder has been involved in 14 first-team games across competitions, and he has even contributed towards two goals. His ability to retrieve the ball and control the tempo of the game has caught the attention of quite a few top clubs.

West Ham want to sign Lenz

His impressive performances, along with his massive potential, are major reasons why almost every Bundesliga club is after his signature. But it seems West Ham are keen on beating all German clubs to take him to the Premier League.

The Hammers want to add more quality and depth to their midfield. They are looking for a young defensive midfielder who can help them in the short as well as long run.

They have identified Lenz as an interesting option for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team. While he lacks experience at the top level, the 19-year-old certainly has the potential to be a special player.

West Ham are believed to be massive admirers of the German youth international, and they have already enquired about him as they look to take the Bochum native to London in the near future.
