Manchester United agree to loan Harry Amass to Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season

Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United: Preview and Prediction.

Manchester United defensive sensation Harry Amass will continue at Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season.

According to a report from the BBC, Harry Amass will not be returning to Old Trafford in January. The teenage full-back is set to continue at the struggling EFL Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday, as they have reached an agreement with Manchester United to extend his loan spell.

Amass joined the Manchester United youth setup from Watford back in 2023. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the first team at the start of 2025. He featured in seven first-team games last season. But since Ruben Amorim was not certain about handing the 18-year-old enough minutes, the Red Devils ended up sending him out on loan.

Sheffield Wednesday came forward and struck a deal with the Manchester-based giants to sign the versatile defender on loan. Harry Amass initially signed a four-month deal with the EFL Championship outfit back in September.

Amass was straightaway handed an important role in the team. The youngster has been involved in each of their last 11 league games, and he has played the entire 90 minutes in the last ten outings. While he prefers playing as a left-back, all his appearances for the Championship club have come as a wing-back.

While Sheffield Wednesday have not been at their best and are currently bottom of the points table, Harry Amass has certainly done his bit. He recently bagged his first goal against Southampton, and given his performances, they were keen on extending his loan spell.

Amass to continue at Sheffield Wednesday

The Championship outfit believe Harry Amass could play an important part in helping them stay in the English second division. They have reached an agreement with United to let him continue at the club until the end of the season.

Since he was unlikely to break into Amorim’s team, staying at Sheffield Wednesday could actually work in the 18-year-old’s favour. Consistent performances in the second division could help him make a case for an important role under the Portuguese manager next season.

As far as Sheffield Wednesday are concerned, securing his services until the end of the season is a massive boost for them. Amass is an integral part of their plans, and his presence could go a long way in helping them avoid the drop.
