Liverpool could offer €100 million for Alessandro Bastoni

Liverpool are willing to break the bank and fork out €100 million to sign Inter Milan defensive mainstay Alessandro Bastoni.

Having significantly bolstered their attack in the last summer transfer window, Liverpool now have their eyes set on reinforcing their backline. According to a report from Fichajes, the Merseyside club have made Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni their priority target for the upcoming transfer window.

The Premier League giants are considering making a €100 million offer to bring the Italian international to Anfield. They feel he could not only bolster their backline in the short-term, but could also become one of the cornerstones of their project under Arne Slot.

After coming up the ranks at Atalanta and making a name for himself on his way, Bastoni joined Inter in the summer of 2018. After a few loan spells away from the club, he eventually established himself in the first team and has only gone from strength to strength over the years.

Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but the 26-year-old is also widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world. His consistent performances for club and country have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world.

While his contract at Inter runs until the summer of 2028, there are clubs that are ready to try to prise him away in the near future. Liverpool are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature as they seek more quality at the club.

Liverpool plot a raid on Inter for Bastoni

With summer signing Giovanni Leoni injured, Ibrahima Konate’s long-term future uncertain, and Virgil van Dijk not at his best, the Merseyside club feel signing a world-class centre-back is a must going forward.

They consider Bastoni just the perfect fit for their project, and they intend to make a €100 million offer to lure him away from Inter in January. They will have to convince the Italian club to part ways with one of their best players.

More importantly, they will have to convince Bastoni that the Liverpool project is an ideal one for him and will also have to beat the competition to his signature. While there hasn’t been concrete development thus far, the Reds certainly seem very keen on signing him.
