Crystal Palace ready to offload Marc Guehi, plan to sell him abroad

Crystal Palace are reportedly willing to offload Marc Guehi to a team abroad, which could hurt Liverpool’s chances of signing the defender.

According to the i Paper, Crystal Palace’s preference is to offload Marc Guehi to a team abroad, which could hurt Liverpool’s chances of signing the defender. The Merseysiders remain eager to bring the England international to Anfield on a Bosman deal next summer, but the interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid could have a telling effect on the centre-back’s immediate future.

Marc Guehi has been one of the big talking points after the transfer deadline, following his failed move to Liverpool on that eventual day. The defender looked all set to join Arne Slot’s side, but Crystal Palace pulled the plug in the eleventh hour due to their inability to find a suitable replacement.

With that decision, Palace risked the idea of losing the 25-year-old as a free agent next summer or at best in January for a knocked-down price. Guehi has been unfazed by transfer talks and remains committed to the Eagles until the time he is here, and he could see out his contract to leave on a free next summer.

However, there is the possibility of Crystal Palace finding the right replacement in January, which could give them a chance to cash in for a knocked-down price in the winter window. As per the report, they would prefer to offload Marc Guehi to a club abroad, which could hurt Liverpool’s chances of signing the 25-year-old summer target.

Liverpool were considered favourites to sign Guehi, but they might not have an advantage currently in the race. The 25-year-old reportedly feels no obligation to join the Reds despite the failed move, as he might be open to exploring other options, which does not necessarily rule out the Merseysiders for the time being.

Real Madrid and Barcelona remain keen

Real Madrid are interested in Guehi, with Florentino Perez eager to lure in the 25-year-old as well as Ibrahima Konate on Bosman deals next summer. Liverpool have identified Nico Schlotterbeck as an alternative for Guehi, and there are many more names in the mix for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also interested in exploring a move for Guehi, and the interest from the two Spanish powerhouses could deal a blow to Liverpool’s chances. Crystal Palace will explore the idea of selling Guehi in January, but the player might prefer to finish the season and be ready for the World Cup in prime form.
