Aston Villa keen on Yanis Benchaouch

Yanis Benchaouch is attracting the attention of Aston Villa ahead of a future approach for the Monaco goalkeeper.

According to Africa Foot, Moroccan goalkeeping talent Yanis Benchaouch is emerging on the radars of some of the notable clubs, including Aston Villa. The Premier League side are focused on bringing in a future No.1, but are also looking for a player they could develop within their ranks for the years ahead.

Emiliano Martinez’s future was the big topic of discussion at Aston Villa during the summer, more than any of their other stars, barring maybe Morgan Rogers. The Argentine star was primed to leave, but somehow ended up staying put beyond the deadline.

The stopper’s future is still up for debate, while Aston Villa are already looking at some notable options to replace him, probably next summer. Diogo Costa was a player of interest, and there could be many more names on their list as the season draws to a close.

As they continue to solve the issues in the No.1 role for the present and the future, the club are also looking at talents that could be developed at the club in the goalkeeping position. The one name currently on the radar is Moroccan talent Yasin Benchaouch, the Monaco star excelling for his nation at the U-20 World Cup.

While Benchaouch is not yet deemed ready for the Monaco first team role, he’s already making strides that could put him in the conversation for a future role. He did make the Champions League squad on one occasion this season; the French club could be stating at a sale of the player for the right price.

Yanis Benchaouch: The next Yassine Bounou

Benchaouch has already been seen as a possible long-term successor to current Moroccan No.1 and icon Yassine Bounou. The latter has been a top-rated performer for the national team squad over the years, and the Moroccan federation is keen for someone like the 19-year-old African goalkeeping sensation to keep playing at the highest levels.

The U-20 World Cup has given him a platform to showcase his talents, especially now that clubs like Aston Villa are closely monitoring his situation. His development could either continue at Monaco or even at a club like the Premier League team, which does offer plenty of opportunities to shoehorn his development into a top-rated star for the future.
