Atletico Madrid eyeing Mason Greenwood swoop, Manchester United will benefit from transfer

Lazio in contact with Mason Greenwood over late move.

Atletico Madrid are keen on signing Mason Greenwood to improve their attacking setup, and Manchester United will benefit from a deal.

According to Fichajes, Atletico Madrid are eyeing a future move for Mason Greenwood, following the attacker’s impressive displays for Marseille. The Ligue 1 giants are demanding at least €75 million to part ways with the English forward, and should a deal materialise, Manchester United will benefit from it.

The controversy surrounding Mson Greenwood appears to be behind him, as the forward continues to focus on his footballing journey. The move away from Manchester United has helped the English forward to re-establish himself in a big way following a loan spell at Getarafe and the permanent move to Marseille.

The French giants signed him for a fee in excess of €30 million, although Manchester United retain a 50% sell-on clause in his deal. Hence, amid reports linking Greenwood to a big-money move to Saudi Arabia in the summer, the Red Devils were expected to earn a chunk of the cash.

However, Mason Greenwood remained at Marseille, where he is considered a key part of the team following 21 goals in his first Ligue 1 season there. Hence, for Marseille to sell him, they will demand at least €75 million from suitors, with Atletico Madrid one of those interested.

Atletico Madrid are looking into the market for options that would help them elevate their attacking levels in the second half of the season. There could be a potential for Julian Alvarez to leave in the future, which would see them replace him with another top performer, who might be the €75 million-rated English attacking powerhouse.

Manchester United will benefit from Atletico’s deal for Mason Greenwood

Manchester United are looking for ways to utilise their finances, and should Greenwood leave in a big-money move out of Marseille, they will largely benefit from it. Hence, those at Old Trafford will hope that happens, although Marseille will be reluctant to sell given the player’s importance at the club.

However, a big career jump to Atletico Madrid would be seen as an upgrade over Marseille by Mason Greenwood. he also has decent experience playing in Spain, which would also benefit Diego Simeone’s side in terms of integrating the player into his new surroundings.
