Manchester United are making plans to include prodigious young player Shea Lacey to be part of Ruben Amorim’s first team squad soon.
According to United In Focus, Shea Lacey could be promoted to the first team squad to give Ruben Amorim an additional option in his attack. The prodigious young player who can operate as a wide player as well as centrally behind the striker could be a wild card opportunity for the senior group.
Manchester United have not had the best of starts to the season, winning only one of their first five encounters across all competitions. The defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City aside, the Red Devils endured a low point after losing to lower league opposition Grimsby Town, who knocked them out of the Carabao Cup early on.
Ruben Amorim has come under increasing pressure with suggestions that he could have three games to save his job. However, other quarters have stated that despite the defeat to Manchester City, his role at Manchester United remains safe.
While speculation surrounding the Portuguese’s future as well as Manchester United’s current form continues, there are some academy talents the club are considering promoting to the first team. Teenager Shea Lacey is one of those, with the attacker making plenty of progress with the youth sides.
Lacey is seen as someone who could add a layer to the attacking setup, as the club are internally pushing to include the prodigious young player into the first team plans. Whether Amorim views the teenager in the same light remains to be seen, as there might be a time frame for the manager to make a decision.
Ruben Amorim to decide on Shea Lacey’s future
Amorim has the choice to bring the young attacker into his first team setup, and given the current group lacks some players due to injuries, it might be a wild card decision with Lacey. The Manchester United boss could theoretically use the teenager as an additional option on either wing, or even as a wing-back, should the player reciprocate positively to his training methods.
Amorim will be given a deadline to decide whether or not to integrate Lacey into the first team, or else the club can send him out on loan. There’s talk of a loan move to one of the clubs abroad, although that could also be achieved in January after a concerted period of training with the first team, as well as using him in some games.
