Tottenham ready to pay €65-70 million to sign Morgan Gibbs-White

Tottenham are ready to return for Morgan Gibbs-White in January and are willing to submit an offer in the range of €65-70 million.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham are ready to make a fresh bid in the range of €65-70 million for Morgan Gibbs-White in January. The North Londoners have not cooled their interest in the attacking midfielder despite Nottingham Forest’s role in keeping their player during the summer, with Spurs widely expected to rekindle their chase.

Tottenham did end the window strongly with the late acquisitions of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to mitigate some gaps in the attacking setup. While their window was not complete owing to missing out on strengthening some key positions, as well as not fully addressing the attacking midfield spot, owing to James Maddison’s potential season-ending injury.

Incidentally, their original plan showed Spurs wanted an attacking midfielder not to cover for Maddison, but to compete with him. Earlier in the window, they had agreed a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering a release clause in his contract.

Nottingham Forest refused to sell the player the threat of legal action based on how Spurs acquired the information about his release clause figure. Tottenham were expected to make a fresh bid for the 25-year-old summer target, but Gibbs-White ended up signing an extension to his existing deal at the club, which all but ended speculation.

Despite signing Simons, who does seem like a fit for the attacking midfield role, Spurs are still angling for a new attacking midfielder. They are expected to return for Gibbs-White in the January window, with the report stating they are willing to make a fresh bid in the range of €65-70 million. Whether that sort of figure helps them get over the line with Forest remains the big question, as there are significant doubts about it.

Nottingham Forest are unlikely to entertain Morgan Gibbs-White approaches

With Spurs now expected to push to sign Gibbs-White in January, the chances of Nottingham Forest even entertaining the prospect seem unlikely. The Tricky Trees are expected to stay busy this season to finish in the top four places, as well as aim to go deep into the Europa League.

Gibbs-White is a key player for the side, and they are unlikely to consider selling him. Moreover, the report claimed Spurs are willing to fork out €65-70 million, which is not an improvement on their summer offer, as the North Londoners may have to fork out significantly more to even stand a chance of getting Nottingham Forest’s attention in the matter.
