La Liga club Girona reportedly have an agreement in place to sign Tottenham Hotspur flop Bryan Gil on a permanent basis.
According to Nil Sola, Bryan Gil will be joining Girona permanently. The Spanish club have managed to strike a deal with Tottenham for the 24-year-old attacker. Michel was pushing for his signature, and he has finally got his man.
Gil came up the ranks at Sevilla and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. He then made the move to Spurs in the summer of 2021. The North London club made a significant investment to sign the Spanish sensation with hopes that he would become one of their mainstays in the long run.
However, the move has not worked out, as he failed to establish himself in their team and has spent a significant amount of time out on loan. Gil was on loan at Girona for the 2024/25 season. He was involved in a total of 32 matches and ended up contributing towards seven goals.
The Spaniard was a key part of Michel’s plans before he got sidelined with a ligament injury in the final phase of the season. While Gil is back at his parent club and still has a year left on his deal, he is not a part of their plans moving forward.
Girona secure Gil’s services
Spurs have been open to his departure since the start of the summer, and multiple top clubs have been linked with him. However, Bryan Gil has had his heart set on a return to Girona. Meanwhile, the Spanish club have been pushing to secure his services at the request of their manager Michel.
With the player, the manager, and the ownership all keen on making the move happen, it was only a matter of time before it went through. Initial reports suggested Gil might terminate his contract with Spurs to join the Spanish club.
However, Sola has reported that Girona will instead pay a fee of €6 million up front, plus another €4 million in variables, to secure his services. With everything now in place, Gil is expected to undergo his medical in the coming hours before an official announcement is made.
