Manchester United reassessing late Angelo Stiller move

Manchester United are having second thoughts about Angelo Stiller, with the German midfielder now viewed as an alternative to Carlos Baleba.

According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United are currently having second thoughts about bringing Angelo Stiller to improve their midfield options. The Red Devils have been chasing a new midfielder, although the German international from VfB Stuttgart is not viewed as an alternative to top target Carlos Baleba.

There is still plenty of work to be done from a Manchester United point of view before the transfer window shuts. The Red Devils have spent significant sums on bringing attacking talent through the door in the window, but they are lacking in their midfield, which was exposed during their opening two games of the Premier League season.

The struggling Premier League giants have been publicly chasing Carlos Baleba as a key option to improve their midfield ranks, but Brighton & Hove Albion have already shut the door on a potential move. Manchester United are expected to pursue Baleba again in 2026, but currently, they may have to bring in an alternative.

Names like Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace were mentioned alongside Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand as alternatives to Baleba. The former will unlikely move before the deadline, although there is still a chance with the latter, provided Manchester United can offer the right terms to the Portuguese giants.

Angelo Stiller was also mentioned as an alternative to Baleba, although the report clearly states, Manchester United do not view the German as such. Ruben Amorim likes the Stuttgart star, who has a £32 million release clause written into his contract, and that might seem tempting for the Red Devils in an attempt to improve their midfield.

Manchester United are having second thoughts about Angelo Stiller

Manchester United are reportedly unconvinced about the £32 million-rated German international as an alternative to Baleba. Hence, they are having second thoughts about making a move for the VfB Stuttgart star. However, they are not ruling out a possible approach, especially if Bruno Fernandes or Kobbie Mainoo depart before the window shuts.

Fernandes is still linked with Saudi Arabian sides, while Mainoo could consider a late exit from the club after reports emerged that he is unhappy with the lack of minutes so far this season. Hence, Manchester United are not expected to make a move for the £32 million-rated German international Angelo Stiller unless there is a big departure before the end of the window.
