Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min is reportedly closing in on a move away from the club to the MLS outfit LAFC.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Son Heung-min has agreed to join MLS outfit Son Heung-min. He has already announced his desire to leave the club this summer, and it will be interesting to see if both clubs can secure an agreement.

The veteran South Korean attacker has been an exceptional player for Tottenham Hotspur since joining the club for £22 million. He has established himself as a legend for the North London club and helped them end their extended wait for a trophy as well.

Son is in the twilight stages of his career, and this could be the ideal opportunity for the South Korean to try out a new challenge. The 33-year-old has proven himself at the highest level and should prove to be an exceptional acquisition for LAFC. He will not only help them improve going forward, but his arrival will also bring added commercial appeal to the club.

Son Heung-min is regarded as one of the finest Asian players of all time, and LAFC would do well to get the deal across the line. The South Korean will look to hit the ground running in MLS and establish himself as one of the best players in the league when the transfer goes through.

Tottenham need to replace Son adequately

Meanwhile, Tottenham will need to replace the player adequately. He has been exceptional for them, and his departure will weaken them in the attack. In addition to that, they will miss his leadership qualities as well. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can iron out an agreement quickly so that Tottenham can make their moves in the market and replace their star attacker.

Tottenham looked toothless in the attack at times last season. Even though they have signed Mohammed Kudus, they need at least a couple of attackers after the South Korean leaves the club. Spurs need to invest in a dynamic attacker who is capable of operating anywhere across the front three, and they need a reliable centre forward as well, who can share the goalscoring burden with Dominic Solanke.
