Liverpool could steal a march on Everton in Malick Fofana chase

Liverpool are reportedly looking to hijack Everton’s move for 20-year-old Lyon winger Malick Fofana in the summer transfer window.

According to Give Me Sport, they are contemplating a move for 20-year-old Lyon attacker Malick Fofana, who has been excellent for Lille. He scored 11 goals last season and picked up 6 assists along the way.

Fabrizio Romano said on GMS, “Liverpool’s priority now is Isak, absolutely. Fofana has been discussed internally since June but no bids or talks so far.”

The 20-year-old Belgian winger is regarded as one of the finest young attacking talents in European football right now, and he has the quality to establish himself as an indispensable asset for the Premier League champions.

Even though Everton are interested in him, Liverpool will be a far more attractive destination. They have recently won the Premier League title, and Fofana has previously admitted his desire to join Liverpool. The player will cost around £35 million, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can get the deal across the line.

Can Everton win the race?

Everton will be thoroughly disappointed if they miss out on the winger. They need more quality and depth in the wide areas. The Toffees looked quite toothless in the fonal third last season, and they need to improve in that area of the pitch.

The 20-year-old is a prodigious young talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a top-class player with the right guidance. If Liverpool end up signing him, he would be an asset for them in the long run. Liverpool have done well to groom talented young players over the years, and they could help the Belgian fulfil his tremendous potential as well.

The asking price seems affordable and reasonable for a player of his potential. Liverpool have been exceptional in the transfer market so far, and they have spent heavily. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days. Convincing the 20-year-old attacker will not be difficult for them. If they agree to pay the asking price for him, Everton are extremely likely to miss out on the player.
