Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have seen their attempts to lure Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara fall short.
According to Graeme Bailey via TBR, Arsenal and Tottenham were both very keen on signing Boubacar Kamara, but they have failed to lure him away from Aston Villa. He is very happy playing under Unai Emery and has penned a new deal as he wishes to continue at the Birmingham-based club.
Bailey’s take on Kamara’s future
While speaking about Kamara’s future, Bailey said: “On Boubacar Kamara – I’m told he was firmly on Arsenal’s long list of midfield targets this summer. Tottenham also really liked him and made an enquiry, but it quickly became clear he wouldn’t be leaving Aston Villa.
“One interesting note: PSG were said to be very impressed with Kamara during their Champions League meetings with Villa, and they’re now expected to keep tabs on him going forward.”
Kamara came up the ranks at Marseille and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2022. He has gone from strength to strength since moving to England, and his sensational rise has attracted a lot of interest from across Europe.
Despite struggling with a few injuries, the 25-year-old ended up featuring in a total of 41 matches for their first team and even bagged a goal. While he prefers playing in a holding role, he can even chip in as a centre-back when needed.
North London clubs failed to lure Kamara
Not only can he shield the backline, but Kamara also makes it quite easy for Villa to control the tempo of the game. His performances impressed Arsenal and Tottenham, who were both chasing his signature this summer.
Mikel Arteta is looking to add more depth and quality to his midfield, and the Villa star was a part of his transfer shortlist. Spurs are also massive admirers of the 25-year-old, and they even enquired about his availability.
However, both clubs have faced defeat in their pursuit as Unai Emery’s team has managed to tie him down to a new long-term deal that runs until 2030.
Kamara has been one of the standout performers for Emery at Villa, and he was keen on securing his future. Meanwhile, the player is also loving life in Birmingham; as a result, he never really considered switching clubs and ended up signing a contract extension.
While Villa have done limited business this summer, they are quite happy with how things have panned out as they have managed to keep hold of the majority of their stars, with Kamara chief among them.
