Thomas Frank wants Conor Gallagher at Tottenham

Tottenham prepared to intensify efforts to beat Liverpool, Manchester United to Nathan Collins.

Thomas Frank reportedly wants to bring Conor Gallagher to Tottenham this summer, with Newcastle United also interested in the Atletico Madrid midfielder.

According to TBR, Conor Gallagher could climb up to the top of Tottenham’s midfield shortlist. New manager Thomas Frank is reported to be keen on the England international, as his time at Atletico Madrid has been questioned following their summer business, as Newcastle United are also keen.

Conor Gallagher is happy with life at Atletico Madrid following a productive first season with the Spanish giants. The midfielder joined the Madrid side last summer from Chelsea, and while Diego Simeone considered him a key part of his plans, his minutes were reduced at the latter stages of the campaign.

Atletico Madrid have eyed changes to their midfield setup with the upcoming sale of Rodrigo De Paul, while new arrivals Alex Baena, Thiago Almada and more importantly, Johnny Cardoso threaten Gallagher’s importance. With a place in the England World Cup squad at stake, there’s an argument that Gallagher could look for a new challenge.

His primary objective would be to join a competitive squad which would allow his talent to shine, as well as securing a move where he is a regular rather than a squad player. Newcastle United are interested, and seen as the front runners as per reports, although a move back to London could also provide an opportunity, as Tottenham are also keen.

Spurs had contemplated a summer move, considering they had been keen for the last two summers when he was at Chelsea. The current window does provide Tottenham with another opportunity to sound out a deal for the 25-year-old midfielder, as new boss Thomas Frank could redefine his role in north London.

Will Tottenham sign Conor Gallagher?

Even though Tottenham are keen, there’s the element of his former ties with Chelsea, while his family continues to support the Blues. Hence, there will be question marks over choosing Spurs as his next destination, although this time around, Gallagher could give it strong consideration.

Tottenham are planning on changes to their midfield, as Frank is reportedly pushing for the Gallagher signing. He could potentially replace Yves Bissouma, who is widely expected to depart this summer, as any move will depend on Atletico Madrid’s asking price for the 25-year-old midfielder.
