Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White continues to push for a move to Tottenham Hotspur despite the deal stalling.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Morgan Gibbs-White wants to play for Tottenham Hotspur next season, and he has informed Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis of his desire. While the deal has stalled for now, the English playmaker continues to push for the move to go through, and Spurs remain optimistic about getting it over the line.
Gibbs-White has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Tricky Trees from Wolves in the summer of 2022. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old’s performances played a major part in Nottingham Forest’s dominant run last season. He was involved in a total of 34 league games and ended up contributing towards 17 goals (7 goals, 10 assists). His consistent performances have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
While some of the giants have been linked with him, no one came in with a concrete offer which allowed Tottenham the opportunity to take the lead. Thomas Frank is keen on adding more creativity in the central area, and they feel Gibbs-White could compete with James Maddison for a place in the XI, and he could even feature on the flanks when needed.
Tottenham are still confident of signing Gibbs-White
Tottenham made Morgan Gibbs-White a priority target and eventually decided to trigger his £60 million release clause. While the transfer was on the verge of going through, the move has stalled because of a dispute related to the clause.
The Englishman has returned to Nottingham Forest’s pre-season training, while the club’s owner is furious that the clause was leaked, as it was meant to remain confidential. He has taken legal action to determine how Tottenham became aware of it.
While the move has stalled, Gibbs-White remains determined to join the North London club and has already informed the Nottingham owner of his desire to leave. Spurs are confident of completing the deal in the coming days. With the clause in place and both the player and Tottenham eager to activate it, there is little the Tricky Trees can do to stop the transfer.
