Real Madrid are yet to make an offer to sign Liverpool mainstay Trent Alexander-Arnold before the expiry of his contract.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Real Madrid want to have Trent Alexander-Arnold available for the Club World Cup, which starts before his contract at Liverpool runs out. Los Blancos have already held talks with the Merseyside club regarding the same but they are yet to table an offer.
Alexander-Arnold has been exceptional for Liverpool, winning every major trophy with his boyhood club. A key figure in their setup for years, the 26-year-old has once again played a pivotal role in their latest Premier League triumph.
Real Madrid want Trent Alexander-Arnold for Club World Cup
While he has been an integral part of their plans and the Reds were ready to offer him a new lucrative deal, Alexander-Arnold decided against extending his stay at the club amidst interest from Real Madrid.
After months of speculation around his future, the 26-year-old finally announced on Monday that he would be leaving the Merseyside club when his contract runs out in the summer. While Los Blancos are yet to make any announcement about his signing, it is almost certain that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be playing for the team in white next season.
While he can join the Spanish giants at the start of July, Florentino Perez is pushing to have him in their squad in June. With the Club World Cup starting on June 14, Perez wants Alexander-Arnold to be available for the global event.
Liverpool are ready to sanction an early exit
Hours after the right-back made his departure official, Real Madrid contacted Liverpool to discuss an early exit. While they have already held the talks, the Merengues are yet to make an offer after asking about Trent Alexander-Arnold being available to feature at the CWC.
Real Madrid will have to pay a small fee to get a deal over the line. While they look set to make an offer, they haven’t made one so far. Meanwhile, a report from Football Insider suggests Liverpool will be open to letting him leave a month before the expiry of his deal.
They are fully expected to sanction his early departure. With Real Madrid very keen on signing him early, the Reds are looking to receive a quick fee for the 26-year-old, who will anyway leave for free a month later.
