Arne Slot’s Liverpool are reportedly preparing a massive offer to sign VfB Stuttgart midfield mainstay Angelo Stiller in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are looking to add more quality to their midfield this summer, and they have their eyes set on Angelo Stiller, who has been a consistent performer for VfB Stuttgart.
While things did not work out for Stiller at Bayern Munich, he got his career on track with a move to TSG Hoffenheim. After a couple of seasons with them, the young defensive midfielder made the move to Stuttgart in the summer of 2023, and he has only gone from strength to strength since.
The player managed to establish himself as a key figure in the team in no time, and he has been doing wonders for them of late. Stiller has even broken into the German national team on the back of his performances for Stuttgart.
The 25-year-old has featured in a total of 44 matches across competitions and he has contributed towards 13 goals. While he prefers playing as a defensive midfielder, Angelo Stiller can even feature in a more advanced role if needed.
The 24-year-old’s impressive rise has put him on the radar of Liverpool, who are looking to add more quality to their midfield. While Arne Slot has done wonders in his first season in charge, the Dutch manager has identified midfield as a key area in need of reinforcement.
Stiller a top target for the Reds
Ryan Gravenberch has done wonders in the number six role, but Slot wants more competition in that position and with Wataru Endo’s departure likely, Angelo Stiller could be an upgrade. The German international could prove to be an ideal fit for Slot’s possession-based, high-pressing style of play.
He has shown great composure on the ball, and his ability to initiate attack suggests he could do wonders for the Merseyside club. The German midfielder’s contract at Stuttgart runs until the summer of 2028. While the Bundesliga club would love to have him around for a few more years, they would be willing to let him live for a fee of around €60 million.
The asking price is certainly on the higher side, but Liverpool appear willing to meet it, believing he could be a strong fit for their project and has the potential to become a key figure in the long term.
