Manchester United are front-runners for the signature of Bournemouth mainstay Antoine Semenyo amidst interest from rivals Liverpool.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Antoine Semenyo. The Red Devils consider him an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim’s system and are willing to go hard for his signature. While Liverpool are also interested in him, United are favourites to sign him at this stage.
Semenyo joined the Cherries from Championship side Bristol City at the start of 2023 in a deal worth just £10.5 million. He has only gone from strength to strength since making the move to the English top flight.
The 25-year-old wide player has established himself as a key figure in the Bournemouth fist-team and his consistent performances have attracted a lot of interest from top clubs in the country.
He has been involved in a total of 37 matches this season and has contributed towards 16 goals (10 goals, 6 assists). While he prefers playing on the left flank, Semenyo can feature in any role on either flank and can even start up top as a number nine.
Having already proved himself in the English top flight, the 25-year-old now finds himself on the wishlist of some of the biggest clubs in the country. Liverpool are one of the clubs that are interested in signing the Bournemouth star.
While Arne Slot’s team have done wonders this season, the Dutch manager is still keen on reinforcing his attack in the summer. They have secured Mohamed Salah’s future but might part ways with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz. Given his proven track record in the top flight, Semenyo could prove to be an excellent replacement.
Manchester United favoruites to sign Semenyo
The Reds are keen on his signature but they are behind Manchester United in the pursuit of the 25-year-old. Ruben Amorim is a massive admirer of the young winger and has ideas about how he could use Semenyo in his new-look attack next season.
With Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony all set to secure a permanent exit from Old Trafford this summer, the Red Devils certainly need to bring some top-quality forwards. Semenyo fits the bill for Amorim, and he is pushing to have him on his squad.
While they are already working to secure his services, Bournemouth won’t let him leave on the cheap. He still has four years left on his contract having penned a new deal last year and the Cherries value him as high as £70 million. However, the structure hasn’t been decided yet, which means there could be a lower fixed fee with add-ons, similar to what they did when they sold Dominic Solanke to Tottenham last summer.
