Borussia Dortmund keen on Oleksandr Zinchenko

Arsenal offer €10 million to sign Benedetti, unwilling to meet Palmeiras price.

Borussia Dortmund are ready to revisit their interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer with the Ukranian not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

According to Football Insider, Borussia Dortmund could reignite their interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of the summer. The Bundesliga giants were eager to sign the Ukrainian left back in January, as Arsenal could let go of him in the close season as he’s unlikely to be a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

This has been a season of change at Arsenal, especially with the emergence of a few teenage stars. Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have come through the academy ranks at the club and have become regular first-team stars under Mikel Arteta.

Lewis-Skelly in particular could have become Arteta’s first-choice left-back, with that position probably the most congested one in the squad with as many as five players vying for a role. Summer arrival Riccardo Calafiori has been plagued with injuries, while Jakub Kiwior is used more as a backup to Gabriel Magalhaes.

Kieran Tierney is expected to leave, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is considered out of favour under Arteta. The Ukrainian is the main story here, as he was expected to leave in the January window, but Arsenal could not agree to a viable exit strategy for the left-back.

Zinchenko has been a key star for Arteta in how the Spaniard wanted his left-back to play, which included inverting into midfield. The 28-year-old utility man did most parts superbly but lacked the physicality and the defensive nous to complete the position, something Lewis-Skelly and even Calafiori have excelled in. Borussia Dortmund were keen in January, and they are now ready to revisit their interest in Zinchenko.

Borussia Dortmund to move for Oleksande Zinchenko

Dortmund are expected to reignite their interest in the 28-year-old utility man from Arsenal ahead of the summer. Zinchenko will have a year left on his deal and is reportedly keen to play regularly, something he might not get under Arteta. The German giants are not alone, as there’s some reported interest from Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal will undoubtedly look to make the best out of this potential sale, although the remaining time on Zinchenko’s contract could play a role in his asking price. Dortmund could certainly offer him a far more important role than the Gunners should they sign him, as any move will depend on a lot of factors including the the Ukraniana’s preference as well as the Bundesliga’s side’s ability to meet the financial requirements.
