Barcelona to intensify move for Alexander Isak

Marcus Rashford hopeful of sealing summer move to Barcelona.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have intensified their pursuit of Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak.

Barcelona have already started the search for Robert Lewandowski’s successor, and according to a report from Fichajes, the Catalan giants have their eyes set on Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. They have stepped up their pursuit, but the financial side of things could prove to be a massive hurdle for them.

After proving his credentials as a young striker at Real Sociedad, Isak made the move to Newcastle in the summer of 2022. He has gone on to establish himself as a key player for Newcastle and is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s best strikers.

With 23 goals and five assists, he is enjoying yet another brilliant campaign in the English top flight. While he is an integral part of the Magpies’ long-term plans, and his contract there runs until the summer of 2028, quite a few clubs want to prise him away.

Barcelona formulate plan to sign Isak

Newcastle are reluctant to sanction his departure but are open to offers exceeding €110 million, as it could help them strengthen their squad overall. Barcelona are one of the giants that want to sign the 25-year-old, but their financial situation won’t allow them to meet the Magpies’ demands right away.

As a result, they are looking to formulate an alternative plan to bring him back to Spain. The Catalan giants want to ensure they do not jeopardise their financial stability, as a result, they are willing to offer €65 million up front, with deferred payments that could reach €110 million over a period of time.

They are also willing to include two players as a part of the deal to convince the Tyneside club. One player will join them on loan, while they will have the option to sign the other permanently.

Barcelona want to reduce the immediate financial burden and, at the same time, allow Newcastle to strengthen their squad with some quality players. But, it will be interesting to see if the Magpies will be willing to accept such an offer.
