Liverpool are reportedly confident that their mainstays Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are not in talks with other clubs.
While Liverpool have already started planning for the summer transfer window, their priority for now is to ensure they pen a new deal with Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. With their contract running out, the pressure is mounting, but the Reds are confident about agreeing on a new deal with their skipper and the Egyptian international.
Alexander-Arnold’s future is a touch uncertain, with Real Madrid pushing hard for his signature. However, according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Merseyside club are optimistic that neither Salah nor Van Dijk are in talks with other clubs.
Arne Slot is certainly enjoying a dream start to life at Liverpool. His team are leading the race for the Premier League title, and they certainly have a chance of going a long way in the UEFA Champions League. While things are going smoothly on the pitch, he still has plenty to sort out regarding his future plans.
Apart from the players he wants to add to his squad, Slot is also pushing to ensure that Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold continue at the club. The contracts of all three Liverpool stars run out at the end of the season.
Salah and van Dijk could end up staying
With only a few months left on their deal, they can sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs. The Dutch international has been linked with several clubs across Europe, and Salah remains the top target for Saudi Pro League clubs. However, neither player is currently in talks with any of their suitors, as per Liverpool.
The duo are believed to be prioritising contract renewal talks with the Merseyside club. Since neither has taken any formal steps to a sign a pre-contract with other clubs, Liverpool are optimistic that they will secure their long-term futures with a new deal. The Reds expected renewal talks to take this long. As a result, they feel everything is on track and are not in a panic mode.
While van Dijk is expected to give the green light to the move, Salah’s future might depend on the length of the contract they offer. He wants a long-term deal, and the Reds are reportedly taking the help of data before deciding how long a deal they can offer the 32-year-old who has been on fire this season.
While Liverpool also want to keep hold of Alexander-Arnold, they are not really certain that he will be around next season as Real Madrid hold concrete interest in him. Los Blancos have him as their priority target, and they are confident about signing him on a free transfer ahead of next season.
