West Ham United are interested in signing Moussa Sylla from Schalke, who certainly has a lot of other clubs chasing his signature.
According to Africa Foot, Moussa Sylla is attracting a lot of interest ahead of the summer, with West Ham United one of those keen to sign him. The Malian forward has been in prolific form for Schalke 04, with the Bundesliga 2 side likely to be powerless in stopping him from leaving should a good enough offer arrive on their table.
Moussa Sylla has been sensational for Schalke 04, scoring 13 times in 19 appearances in the Bundesliga 2 this season. The once-strong Bundesliga side is now lingering in the second division with an immediate return to the top division nowhere in sight.
Hence, they are expected to lose some of their top talents in the summer, especially the 25-year-old striker. A lot of clubs were interested in him during the January window, including West Ham United, who had been looking for a new centre-forward owing to their shortcomings in the area.
They also saw a move for Eli Junior Kroupi breakdown, with Bournemouth eventually signing the striker, while the Cherries had also seen a bid rejected for Sylla in the process. They had bid around €12 million which was deemed insufficient by Schalke, who will continue to hold on to a big fee given the 25-year-old striker has a contract until 2025.
West Ham United are now interested in shaping their side with a forward capable of playing multiple positions and could view Sylla as the ideal candidate. Even though Schalke are holding on to a big fee, in the context of the striker’s quality, he will be in an affordable range for the Hammers, although the real price tag remains unclear.
West Ham keen to sign a new forward
Whether that is Sylla or someone else remains to be seen, although going by their options ahead of next season, Graham Potter may have a vision of adding many stars to the lineup. They did sign Evan Ferguson on loan in January, but the Irish striker is not expected to stay here permanently.
The Hammers have some ambitious names like Endrick, as they are angling for a loan deal for the Real Madrid star. However, Potter would like a permanent signing at the very least, and Sylla might be in the mix for that, as West Ham will certainly face more competition for the 25-year-old striker from fellow English clubs as well as those from the continent.
