Italian giants AS Roma have taken the first steps towards the potential signing of Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

AS Roma have been far from their best in the ongoing season. They struggled for the majority of the first half and are now looking at the winter window as an opportunity to reinforce his squad.

According to Marco Conterio, Roma are looking to add more quality to their midfield and they have their eyes set on Manchester United’s Casemiro.

After winning it all with Real Madrid, the Brazilian international made the move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022. While he did have an exceptional debut campaign, things have only gone downhill for him of late.

The 32-year-old is not a regular starter under Ruben Amorim. While he has been involved in 22 outings so far, Casemiro has only racked up over 1,400 minutes of first-team action. He is on massive wages at United and since he is no longer an important of their plans, a departure could benefit all parties involved.

Casemiro ready to leave United, AS Roma keen

The former Real Madrid star is pushing for a move away and is reportedly on the verge of leaving the Manchester-based club. AS Roma have emerged as a potential destination for the Brazilian veteran midfielder.

The Italian outfit are looking to add more depth as well as quality in the centre of the park and Casemiro can certainly help their cause. With Roma struggling in the Italian top flight, the Brazilian midfielder could help them change things up.

They have already initiated contact to sign him. While the Italian club haven’t made any realistic development in their pursuit of the 32-year-old’s signature, the player’s desire could play a big part. With him keen on a move, it will be interesting to see if things pick up pace in the final days of the transfer window.

While Boca Juniors are pushing hard for Leandro Paredes’ services, Roma haven’t sanctioned his departure. If he does end up leaving them in the final days, Casemiro could end up being an ideal replacement.
