Liverpool youngster Ben Doak turns down the opportunity to return to Celtic, wants a Premier League move amidst interest from Crystal Palace.
Celtic want to add more quality to their attack in the ongoing transfer and they are interested in re-signing Ben Doak. But, according to a report from Football Insider, the Scottish international has no intentions of making a return to Celtic Park.
The teenager will prefer moving to a Premier League outfit if he does end up leaving Liverpool in the ongoing transfer window. Crystal Palace are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature and could end up making a move.
Doak had already made his senior debut before he made the move to Liverpool as a 16-year-old back in 2022. The Reds secured his services for a compensation fee of just £600,000. The Merseyside club were well aware of his massive potential and they decided to bet on him.
He got promoted to their senior team in the summer of 2023. While he did showcase a lot of promise, the 19-year-old could only get seven first-team games last season. With him unlikely to get enough minutes under Arne Slot, the Reds decided to send him out on loan to Middlesbrough.
Doak is surely enjoying his time in the Championship. He has featured in 21 matches and has contributed towards eight goals. His performances have attracted a lot of interest and top clubs could try to prise him away in the ongoing window.
Doak to switch clubs in January?
The report suggests that the Reds could reluctantly Doak in January for £25 million after having turned down an offer of around £15 million from Crystal Palace recently. Celtic are one of the clubs that are after his signature. The Scottish giants want to re-sign him as they look to bolster their attack but he is not keen on joining them.
The young right-winger wants to continue in the Premier League where the Eagles are pushing hard for his services. With Eberechi Eze’s long-term future uncertain, Palace need to add more depth as well as quality to their squad and the Liverpool star could be an ideal fit for them.
Doak might love to move to Palace given the kind of track record they have in developing young stars. But, any deal won’t be that straightforward as Liverpool will also have to terminate his loan deal first.
