Atletico Madrid eyeing January loan move for Federico Chiesa

Zenit St Petersburg vs Juventus Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News, & Key Stats

Atletico Madrid are plotting a raid on Liverpool in January to acquire the services of their 2024 summer signing Federico Chiesa.

Italian international Federico Chiesa could once again be on the move in January as things haven’t really worked out for him at Liverpool. According to a report from Fichajes, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are considering signing him on loan in the upcoming transfer window.

Chiesa came into the limelight while playing for Fiorentina. His consistent performances helped him secure a move to Italian giants Juventus. While he was one of their mainstays in the initial years, injuries hampered his progress and he never really got back to his best.

Liverpool decided to bet on him and they ended up signing him for a cut-price fee in the summer. Things haven’t really worked out for him at Anfield as he has once again struggled to stay fit. So far, he has racked up just 123 minutes of first-team action across his four appearances.

Things don’t really look that bright for the 27-year-old winger. He has failed to establish himself as a key figure under Arne Slot and given the kind of serious attacking talent Liverpool have he will find it very difficult to get regular minutes at the Merseyside club.

Chiesa could join Atletico Madrid on loan

As a result, the Reds as well as the player’s camp are considering a loan move away from Anfield. They feel some regular football will help him return to his best. Atletico Madrid have emerged as a potential destination. Simeone seeks more firepower in the final third.

He wants to bring in a versatile forward who adds dynamism and depth to his squad. Chiesa’s ability to feature on either flank as well as a number nine make him an ideal fit for the Argentine manager’s system. A loan move could do wonders for both parties.

While the terms of a move are yet to be defined, there are high chances that he will end up joining the Madrid-based club when the transfer window reopens in a few days time.
