Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham vying for Milan Skriniar

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham are all set to be involved in an intense battle for PSG defensive star Milan Skriniar.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham, Newcastle United and Arsenal are all keen on signing Milan Skriniar. All three Premier League outfits want to bolster their backline in the short term and have their eyes set on PSG’s Slovakian centre-back.

After an impressive six-year-long stint at Inter Milan, Skriniar made the move to PSG in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer. While he was an important figure in the French club’s first team during his debut campaign, a lot has changed this time around.

He has found himself on the bench in the majority of their games and has been involved in just five league fixtures. The 29-year-old is not happy with his limited game time and he is pushing for a move away in the upcoming transfer window.

Newcastle and Tottenham keen on signing Skriniar

He is all set to be made available for a fee of €35 million and there is no shortage of interest in his signature. Newcastle are one of the clubs keen on his signature. Eddie Howe wants to add more depth to his backline amidst uncertainty around Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar’s future.

The Slovakian international’s experience could come in handy and he could become a key figure in their team. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also interested in the 29-year-old. Ange Postecoglou wants to strengthen his defensive rotation.

He is looking at Skriniar as an ideal cover for his first-choice centre-back pairing of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. A backup role is unlikely to please the former Inter Milan star and it will make things difficult for Spurs.

Arsenal to rival the duo

Meanwhile, Arsenal will rival both Newcastle and Tottenham for his signature. The Gunners do have a solid backline but Mikel Arteta is always on the lookout for opportunities to further strengthen his team. Skriniar’s arrival could bolster their backline and help them battle with top clubs in England as well as Europe.

They are ready to offer him a starting spot which could make all the difference. While PSG have set an asking price of €35 million, the report suggests they could lower their demands to €25 million during negotiations.
