Tottenham set to make approach for Matheus Cunha

Tottenham are all set to knock on the doors of Wolves for the services of Newcastle and Manchester United target Matheus Cunha.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a poor start to the first half and they are looking at the winter transfer window as an opportunity to reinforce their squad. According to Ekrem Konur, Ange Posteoglou’s team are interested in the services of Matheus Cunha and they are all set to make an enquiry about the Wolves forward.

Things didn’t work out for Cunha at Atletico Madrid and he ended up joining the English outfit on a short loan at the start of 2023. His impressive performances resulted in Wolves securing his services on a permanent basis in the summer.

While things haven’t been that great for the Wolverhampton-based club in the last few years, Cunha has certainly been one of the standout performers with 25 goals and 12 assists in his 74 outings. He prefers playing as a nine but is capable enough to feature anywhere in attack.

Cunha could soon switch clubs

His versatility has been of great use to Wolves and he has been on fire this season with nine goals and three assists in his 17 league outings. The 25-year-old Brazilian’s performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs in the country.

Manchester United and Newcastle both consider him an ideal fit for their system. With Isak’s future uncertain amidst interest from across Europe, the Magpies could look at Cunha as an ideal replacement. Meanwhile, the Red Devils seek more firepower and with Marcus Rashford expected to be on the move, the Wolves forward could help cope with his absence.

Tottenham keen on signing Matheus Cunha

While he remains an option for both United and Newcastle, Tottenham are the ones who seem to have concrete interest in the former Atletico star’s services. The North London club seek more quality in the final third of the pitch.

They did add Dominic Solanke to their squad in the summer but their manager is not satisfied with the options up top. With Son Heung-min’s contract running out and Richalison not living up to the expectations, Cunha could be the player Spurs need to maintain fluidity and creativity in the final third. They are looking to enquire about the conditions of a potential transfer to bring Cunha to the club.
