Crystal Palace are looking to raid League Two outfit Chesterfield FC for the services of English forward James Berry-McNally.
James Berry-McNally could make a straight jump from the English fourth division to the Premier League on the back of his impressive performances. According to a report from Fichajes, the Chesterfield forward has put himself on the radar of Crystal Palace who are looking to make a move for him in the near future.
Berry-McNally was a part of the Macclesfield setup before he moved to Chesterfield in the summer of 2023. The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since switching clubs. He seems to have taken his game to the next level this season and his performances have attracted interest from clubs in the English top flight.
He has been involved in a total of 16 League Two fixtures and has seven goals and two assists to his name. While he is playing in the fourth division, his abilities suggest he could be successful at the highest level if given an opportunity.
The former Liverpool youth player finds himself on the wishlist of quite a few Premier League clubs with Crystal Palace being one of them. The Eagles have earned a reputation as a club that scouts young talents from lower divisions in the country and gives them a platform to showcase their true potential.
Crystal Palace are interested in Berry-McNally
They have signed quite a few young stars in recent seasons and are looking to add Berry-McNally to their ranks. The Eagles have had a poor start to the new season as they find themselves 17th in the top flight. They want to add more quality to their squad to ensure they can stay in the top flight.
The winter window will be a crucial time for Palace to reinforce their squad and they could knock on Chesterfield’s doors. With just over 18 months left on the 23-year-old’s contract, Oliver Glasner’s team have a realistic chance of signing him.
They have already made an approach to analyse the possibility of a potential transfer. Chesterfield are aware of the amount of interest in him and they are ready to negotiate his departure. But, won’t let him leave on the cheap.
The club will look to secure a lucrative sale that allows them to add more quality to their squad. They value him at around £5 million, a figure that interested clubs are ready to negotiate.
