The Reds are plotting a move for the former Manchester United star and it could force the Reds Devils to trigger the buy-back clause as their new boss Ruben Amorim is a big admirer of the Spanish defender.
Carreras was a part of the Real Madrid youth ranks back in the day. Things didn’t work out for him at the Spanish club and he ended up joining the Manchester-based giants in the summer of 2020. He went up the ranks and got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022.
While he had a few impressive loan spells away from the club, the 21-year-old never made an appearance for their first team. He ended up completing a permanent move to Benfica in the summer on the back of an exceptional short loan spell at the Portuguese club.
Carreras has made the left-back slot his won at Benfica. He has featured in 16 matches for their first team and has contributed towards four goals (two goals, two assists). His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
